Broadband problems

For the last couple of days our household has been experiencing problems with our broadband with disconnections occurring several times a day (and usually accompianed by shouts of "the WiFi is not working").

Looking in the router logs, I could see some messages occurring each time we had noticed a problem:

21:45:45, 19 Jun. (118321.320000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]
21:45:48, 19 Jun. (118324.390000) PPPoE is down after 127 minutes uptime [Waiting for Underlying Connection (WAN Ethernet 7 - Down)]
21:45:48, 19 Jun. (118324.400000) PTM over DSL is down after 128 minutes uptime

Worringly this seemed to be followed by my younger daughter's iPhone disconnecting from the WiFi and sometimes other devices.

This morning I called our current broadband provider. After a brief period on hold the lady that I spoke to confirmed that she could see that the broadband has disconnected five times yesterday and had already disconnected one today. I was then asked to use a different microfilter and use the test socket (which is hidden behind the plate for the phone socket). The router connected successfully and I was told that they would monitor the connection over the next couple of days. It will be interesting to see whether this has any effect.
