Advent window 2023

For Advent this year, we have created a display in our hall window. Our window is celebrating the donkey in the nativity story.

The window is one of 24 windows being displayed around the village. I am not sure whose idea it was or even what level of organisation was put into it; for example we were told what numbers were still available and when we said our theme would be the donkey, we were told that nobody else was doing that.

The display consists of a cuddly-looking donkey (it looks like a toy put it was sold as a door stop) sitting on some straw. There is a poster of the head of a donkey wearing a Santa Claus style hat as background and then the display is lit by a string of LED lights that are automated to flash in a festive mode. In the top window is a silhoutte picture of Joseph leading a donkey with Mary on its back as a reminder of the donkey's role in the nativity.
