I had a nice surpise today. I received an unexpected parcel which contained a present from my employer.
The box contained chocolate, shortbread biscuits, honey and an onion relish. It had been done through a company called Social Stories Club, which is a company I had not come across before.
The card enclosed with the box said that the present was instead of a Christmas party (as the current restrictions in place in the UK would prevent the company having a Christmas party). For a number of years I have not bothered going to the company Christmas parties; it was a disincentive when I would have an hour's drive to get home afterwards and very few of my immediate colleagues live near the office so were not likely to attend. Having a little gift seems to be a good compromise.
