Running

I tried to run the parkrun in Chippenham on Saturday morning but pulled out after a mile with a sore calf in my left leg.

Volleyball

On Thursday I played for Calne Asteroids against Swinton Engineers (who have joined the Wiltshire Mixed League this season). The Meteorites had already lost there so there was no expectation of a win. It was not an exciting match with the Engineers only going through the motions once they realised there was no competition on the other side of the net. I did however get nominated as the MVP from Calne.

Despite the sore calf I went down to Plymouth to play for the Wiltshire Mavericks in the South West League. We won the first match against Plymouth but I managed to hurt my right knee further reducing my mobility. To add insult to injury I managed to hurt my finger trying to catch a ball while sitting on the bench at the start of the final set of the our match, which was against a Kernow team. It ended up being a painful weekend with three injuries.

== Science

It has been fasinating following the progress of the ESA Rosetta mission as the Philae lander descended to comet P61. The company I work for had been involved in developing some of the software for the mission. A lot has been made in the press about the possibility that the mission may uncover clues of how water came to be on Earth. My guess is that the mission would be very lucky if it achieved that because the are going to far more different types of comets than there are planets, so the chances of landing first time on the same type of comet must be very low.
